Success Means New Appointment At Monkey Music

Monkey Music has announced the appointment of Deborah Stanbury as a director of the company with responsibility for franchisee support and strategic business development.

Monkey Music is an award winning national franchise – the UK’s premium music group for pre-school children.  More than 50 franchises currently operate in nearly 300 locations countrywide and every week more than 10,000 children visit Monkey Music classes.

Deborah’s promotion from her previous role as Franchise Manager, which spearheads a number of new appointments at Monkey Music HQ in Harpenden, comes after a record-breaking year that has seen the combined franchisee turnover top £2.2 million. This reflects a 24% increase in average franchisee income over the last two years since Deborah joined the HQ team.

Deborah’s association with Monkey Music started as a customer. Becoming a convert, she became a franchisee in 2005 before moving to Monkey Music HQ in 2009. Previously Deborah worked in a very senior role in the music industry in London. As Head of Finance and Legal Affairs at Universal Music she played a leading role in contract negotiations with artists such as Elton John, Robbie Williams, Fat Boy Slim, Beautiful South and Pulp. So Monkey Music franchisees now benefit from her significant experience and expertise.

“Monkey Music is going from strength to strength“, comments Deborah. “Although our classes are always engaging and great fun, the foundation of our offering is a proven, tried and tested progressive curriculum that uses music to enhance all aspects of a young child’s development and learning. Our carers understand the real developmental value that Monkey Music has for their babies and young children, so, even in these challenging times when other activities fall by the wayside, Monkey Music remains a treasured and protected family activity. From a franchisee point of view, our dedicated franchisee support team and specialist Head Office personnel, offer highly experienced advice and tailored ongoing training for every stage a franchisee reaches as their business grows”.

As Monkey Music’s many celebrity fans would agree and, in the case of Simon Pegg and James Corden, have regularly tweeted, Monkey Music’s classes can be a magical shared experience.

“Anyone who understands the transformational power of music will love Monkey Music”, says Deborah. “That’s the starting point for nearly all our franchisees. Whether they have a background in music education or not, a passion for music is always there. Combine this with business acumen and our proven model for success and Monkey Music offers a unique and utterly fulfilling business opportunity for franchisees all across the country.”

Angie Coates, Founder of Monkey Music, said:

“We’re delighted to appoint Deborah as a Monkey Music Director. Her dedication and expertise have already had a significant affect on our growing business and, with her support, I’m confident many more new franchisees will discover the personal enjoyment and business rewards that running a Monkey Music franchise can offer.”

And, with 700,000 babies born in the UK every year, this really is a growing market.
